The Second Ukrainian Educational Research Association Winter School «European Educational Research Quality Indicators» took place on 23-28 January 2019 in Uman. The event happened within the framework of realization the European Union Erasmus+ project in Jean Monnet direction «European Educational Research Quality Indicators for Empowering Educators in Ukraine» (№ 587032-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPJMO-SUPPA). The School was organized by Ukrainian Education Research Association (UERA), and co-organized by Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University with the financial support of Erasmus+ European Union Programme.
The grand opening ceremony of II Winter School took place at Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University conference hall. At the opening ceremony of the School the participants were greeted by First Vice-Rector of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University prof. Andriy Gedzik, UERA President Prof. Svitlana Shchudlo (Project Coordinator), Chief Scientist of (NAPS) of Ukraine Serhiy Kurbatov, who read out greetings from President of National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Academician Vasyl Kremen. Project manager of National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine Petro Krainik congratulated the participants in online mode.
On the basis of competitive selection, the participants of the event were chosen 27 young researchers who presented 22 institutions of higher education and research institutions from different regions of Ukraine: Kyiv, Uman, Lviv, Drohobych, Kamyanets-Podilsky, Chernihiv, Lutsk, Odessa, Sumy, Dnipro, Ternopil, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Nizhyn, Kropivnitsky. Winners of the research and analytical works competition "Ukrainian teacher: analysis of project data by TALIS methodology ", held by UERA in cooperation with the Sociological Association of Ukraine, were invited to participate in the School. The winners were Katerina Ivanishchenko, Vitaliy Sviridiuk (Uman) and Olena Makarchuk. During the School the winners presented their research works, they were awarded diplomas and keepsakes from UERA.
Experts in the field of education, participants of international educational programs Prof. Svetlana Shchudlo (Drohobych), Prof. Oksana Zabolotna (Uman), Prof. Sergey Kurbatov (Kiev), Prof. Alexander Dluhopolsky (Ternopil), Prof. Olena Kovalchuk (Lutsk), Yuri Kovalchuk (Nizhyn), Tetyana Gora (Kherson), Assoc. Prof. Natalia Goruk (Lviv), Assoc. Prof. Volodymyr Satsyk (Kyiv), Assoc. Prof. Tetyana Lisova (Nizhyn), Assoc. Prof. Lyudmila Zagoruiko (Uman) made presentations to the School participants. In general, for the School participants, the trainers held 10 workshops with total duration of 40 hours and individual consultations.
The speakers focused on such important issues as: General overview of European Educational Research Quality Indicators; Ukrainian Educational Research Association: History, Mission, Ethical Standards; Modern academic writing standards for young scholars: advanced practices of the European universities and publishing companies; International Databases as Platforms For Research Presentation; Qualitative Educational Research: Narrative Approach; Teacher Evaluation: Conceptual Framework and International Practices; Empirical Methods of Educational Research: lessons learn from conducting TALIS in Ukraine; Academic Integrity: Best Practices of EU universities for Ukrainian higher schools; University Rankings as a Tool for Integration of Ukrainian Academia in the European Higher Education Area, Overview and Structure of Databases of International Studies (TIMSS, PIRLS, ICCS, TEDS-M, ICILS, SITES, PISA, TALIS, PIAAC), Persuasive Proposal Writing (European dimension).

Cultural program which was organized by the host of the event – Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University, became extremely interesting. The participants got acquainted with the university, visited National dendrological park “Sofiyivka” and the grave of Tsadik Rabi Nakhman (known as Reb Nachman of Bratslav), which attracted tens of thousands followers of Hasidism to Uman.
The next 2020 Winter School is planned to take place in Lutsk.
